I am feeling a little crappy today, so this one will be short. Somehow however, I am among the most popular developers this week a the Great Games Experiment. I feel better knowing I am popular. I deserve it. I am like the fonze of computer game development, only fatter, and less italian.

Aaaaay!
Some amazing stuff is happening at HermitWorks in the next few days, and I’ll be sure to keep y’all posted. I am certain that anyone who cares to take a look will be blown away. One of the hardest lessons in making games is that simplicity is the key. People don’t want to waste a bunch of time figuring out stuff with no point. To that end, there are some radical (both as in “a vast departure from the norm”, and in the Spicolian sense of the word) changes in the way we are presenting Space Trader.

I have a ponderance to showcase. What is the right way to make ‘friends’ on a social network. Should one take the ‘invite everyone and become a social-net butterfly” friend-whore approach, or perhaps the “I’m too cool for this crap, where is my black eye-liner” emo-approach.

Tubular!
I’m not judging, but where do you draw the line. I’m torn between wanting lots of friends and seeming popular, and knowing that popularity online is about as significant as a temporary tatoo. What do you guys think?

Anyway, stay tuned, more fabulous news is coming shortly. Thanks to everyone who made me popular on GGE, I wish I could figure out what I did! Maybe it was that giant fruit basket I sent to Ken Finney…

Later,

Jordan

The “drive by friend invite” approach is the most effective, because otherwise people wouldn’t even bother to look at your profile. If they look at your profile, they see the RSS feed, and they get lured here. WHEELS WITHIN WHEELS, MY FRIEND.

“I’m too cool for this crap, where is my black eye-liner” emo-approach FTW.
