How does one stay popular?
February 5th, 2007
I have decided that being popular is a fool’s errand. I really want to win stuff on the Great Games Experiment, but I just can’t be a friend/kudo’s whore. It’s not something I am comfortable doing. I noticed a whole bunch of rabble signing in and cross-promoting each other, not that gaming the popularity system is against any rules, but it doesn’t feel right to me.

No sarcasm/judgment is intended – I think the crew at the GGE are doing everything they can to foster a community atmosphere, and I applaud that. I think I’ll just keep going at my own pace, and meeting people when I have something to say about their work or what they have said.
Now, time for a ROMROD update! I went to a few psychologists, and the cheapest price I could find was about 300 bucks, but I have not finished looking around yet. A friend of mine (who may be also interested in infiltration) says she would be willing to go on a road trip, so it may actually be much cheaper to go to Edmonton for a weekend than to pay a psychologist to do it here. Plus, I get a weekend of fun! I am going to check out the cost to rent a vehicle and see what it would work out to… more to come.

Yes, I have to agree with you. And because of that, I’m ignoring those prizes. After all, there are other categories that don’t have anything to do with popularity :)

Well, there is no controversy here. I have to admit I am intimidated by Daigle’s massive friend list, and twenty-whatever-inch Mac. But I also dig having email conversations with the people who get me on the GGE.
To each his own, right? ;-)
